The word mandala itself simply means "circle" in Sanskrit. The Rajamandala ,or Mandalam means "circle of states," has been used to describe forms of government in the region of Asia. In some religious beliefs, mandalas are spiritual symbols that represent the universe, organization, and connection to things seen and unseen. These mandalas are used to establish sacred spaces, aid in meditation, or induce a spiritual trance.
It's no secret that we love intricate patterns. Designs similar to the mandala are historically seen in some regions as well.

I strongly believe that, every masterpiece, be it an art or any form of creation, there is always simple underlying pattern that makes its a masterpiece. So try to develop the habit of observing the hidden pattern repetitions from any form of art and make a chart of those observed patterns and practice them over and over.
